School update

As school is slowly coming to an end, first semester is completed and only three more months left of school in Canada. In April 2008, I'll be heading to the beautiful country of Belize and more specifically to Placencia. Placencia is south of Belize City and from where I have previously stayed in San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. I'll be happy to be heading there as Eric, my fiance/husband, lives on Tobacco Caye in Belize and I miss him so much. Being around 3000 miles away from him to save for school and to complete school has been a struggle at times but I know that this separation has only made us stronger as a couple.

School in Sechelt, BC, Canada has been an interesting adventure so far. I've met some real amazing people, made some wicked friends whom I'll never forget. The holidays crept up quickly and we had some other specialties and a few people to catch up on some dives. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to complete the divemaster portion of our program this semester so it will be completed in the new year. Now on my Christmas holidays back home in Edmonton, I now have 81 logged dives and only need 19 more dives to reach the qualification goals for my IDC (instructor development course).

Sunday, December 8, 2007 - I was on my most recent boat dive with Kal's Charters - Propoise Bay Charters - my diving buddies were unable to participate in the second dive of the day so I asked the other diving group on the charter if they needed another diving buddy. One gentlemen, Doug, needed a buddy so I was incharge of guiding that dive for him. I gave him a good but short briefing and Kal gave me some tips for the up coming dive. Was a lot of fun for me and Doug, it was a great experience for me to have gotten the opportunity to do my first guided tour as a "divemaster". What a great experience guiding a dive tour before I was officially certified as a divemaster or OWSI (open water scuba instructor).

Returning to Sechelt on the sunshine coast in BC for January 4, 2008 to commencing my diving adventures! Next up will be some stories from my adventures here at home in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada...
